Cork native Eoghan O’Connell has been a fixture in the Hoops’ Development Squad in his first two seasons, producing a series of confident displays in central defence.
Assured in possession, the Irishman has captained the side on a number of occasions and is best suited to playing on the front foot, carrying the ball forward from defence into attack.
His performances for the young Hoops prompted a call-up to the senior side and O’Connell made his debut competitive debut for the Celtic first team towards the end of the 2013/14 season, in a 1-1 draw at home to Ross County.
Following loans to Oldham Athletic and Cork City, O’Connell has become a regular feature in defence under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
