William Semple Brown Wallace – “Wispy”- signed for Celtic from Hearts on December 6th, 1966, for a fee in the region of £30,000. The move came right out of the blue; Willie had been unhappy at Hearts for some time, unable to see eye to eye with manager Tommy Walker, and it was widely expected that Rangers would make a move for him.
