Andrew Gutman, born in Illinois on 2 October 1996 (age 29), is an American left-back whose early professional route briefly ran through Celtic before his career settled in MLS.
Celtic signed him in January 2019 from Indiana Hoosiers, a move that always looked more developmental than immediate. His time in Glasgow did not become the main part of his career, and he left in March 2021 for Atlanta United.
Atlanta gave him a clearer platform. His most productive league season came there in 2022, when he scored four goals in 25 appearances, decent output for a full-back and enough to mark him as more than just another squad traveller.
After Atlanta, Gutman had a spell with Colorado Rapids before becoming more established at Chicago Fire. He has made 13 appearances for Chicago across all competitions, scoring once, including 10 MLS appearances and three in the MLS Cup Play Offs.
His career has been shaped mostly in the United States, with Celtic sitting early in the story rather than at the centre of it.
