Christopher Jullien, born in Lagny-sur-Marne on 22 March 1993 (age 33), is a Guadeloupean central defender with an imposing 6ft 5in (1.96m) frame. Before Celtic, he had already shown he could offer more than penalty-box defending, most notably at Dijon in 2015-16, when he scored nine league goals in 34 appearances.
Celtic signed him from Toulouse in July 2019 for around £7m. It was a sizeable fee by the club’s standards, and Jullien arrived as a centre-half expected to give the back line presence, reach and a bit of authority. His Celtic spell had its moments, but it did not run on long enough to become anything more settled.
He left Celtic in August 2022 for Montpellier, returning to French football rather than drifting into the margins. Now wearing the No 2 shirt, he remains a regular first-team presence there in 2025-26, with 23 Ligue 2 appearances and two goals.
His current market value is around £850,000, according to Transfermarkt. Jullien’s career has moved from a productive early spell in France to a significant Celtic move, then back to Montpellier, where he is still playing regularly.
