A quick and versatile centre-back, who can also play in the heart of midfield, Ambrose joined the club on deadline day on August 31, 2012, from Israeli Premier League side, FC Ashdod. He started out in his homeland, before switching to the Israeli top flight. He signed a three-year deal with Celtic and was given the squad number 4.
A Nigerian internationalist and Olympic Silver medallist, Ambrose helped his country become African Cup of Nations champions for the first time in 19 years in February 2013. He also competed in the 2014 World Cup tournament in Brazil as the Super Eagles reached the last 16 of the competition.
