Neves Filipe, more commonly known as 'Jota', is a footballer hailing from Portugal, and was born on the 30th of March 1999. He primarily operates as a forward, with a particular talent for playing on the left wing. The player dons the number 7 jersey and is 5ft 8in tall (1.75m), tipping the scales at a weight of 10st 7lb (67kg). As of this moment, his market value has been estimated by Transfermarkt to be approximately around £6m.
In the infancy of his career, back in July 2007, 'Jota' joined Benfica in the Liga Portugal as a trainee. His journey with the first team began in the 2018-2019 season, where he participated in four league matches. The next season saw 'Jota's involvement increase as he made 19 appearances in league matches. His progression did not go unnoticed, as Real Valladolid in the Spanish Segunda División decided to take him on loan in October 2020. He made 17 appearances for Real Valladolid and even scored a goal in that season.
Jota's journey then brought him to Celtic in August 2021, initially on a loan deal from Benfica. His performance in Scotland led to him making 29 first-team league appearances and scoring ten goals in his first season. So poignant was his impact, that Celtic permanently secured his services for a fee of around £6.5m in July 2022. 'Jota' continued his scoring form, netting 11 goals in 33 appearances in the 2022-2023 season.
However, an offer from Al-Ittihad in the Pro League in Saudi Arabia saw him transferring for a substantial fee of around £25m in July 2023. Here, he made 16 appearances and added four goals to his tally. His journey took a turn again in August 2024, when he switched from Al-Ittihad to Rennes in France's Ligue 1 for a fee of around £6.8m. This stint was short-lived, with 'Jota' scoring once in his nine appearances, before making his way back to Celtic in January 2025 for a fee of around £8.5m.
His second stint at Celtic saw 'Jota' maintain his scoring form from his previous spell. During the 2024-2025 season, he featured 11 times and scored four goals. He's yet to feature in the current 2025-2026 season, but fans are no doubt eager to see him back on the pitch. Undoubtedly, his most memorable moment in this spell was his contribution to Celtic's Scottish Cup 2024-2025 campaign, where he scored a crucial goal in his three appearances.
