Giorgos Giakoumakis, a Greek football forward born on the 9th of December 1994, is currently leaving his mark at PAOK. Standing 6ft (1.85m) tall and weighing 13st 3lb (84kg), this striker wearing the number 7 jersey commands presence on the field. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be around £5.9m.
The journey of Giakoumakis began in July 2012, with Platanias in the Football League in Greece where he made nine first team appearances in league matches during his debut season. His subsequent returns to Platanias in the seasons that followed saw an increase in his appearances and goals scored, being the most productive in the 2016 - 2017 season where he bagged 11 goals in 26 matches.
In January 2014, a short-lived transfer led him to Episkopi, but he returned to Platanias in July the same year, where he continued his growth. July 2017 marked the beginning of his time at AEK Athens in the Super League in Greece. Despite receiving more playing time, his goal-scoring ratio was not as prolific.
Loan spells at OFI Crete (2019) and Gornik Zabrze in Poland (2020) were interspersed in his time at AEK Athens before Giakoumakis made a significant move to VVV-Venlo in the Eerste Divisie in Netherlands in August 2020. His goal-scoring feat at VVV-Venlo was remarkable, finding the back of the net 26 times in 30 matches during the 2020 - 2021 season.
Giakoumakis' impressive performance caught the attention of Celtic in Scotland, securing him in August 2021 for around £2.5m. His two-season venture with the Scottish club was productive, scoring a total of 19 goals in 40 appearances over the course of 2021 - 2023.
His stint at Celtic was followed by moves across the Atlantic, first to Atlanta United in the MLS in the USA in February 2023, and then to Cruz Azul in Mexico's Liga MX in July 2024. His time at both clubs further added to his goal tally, aiding in raising his price to approximately £7.9m.
His career came full circle when he returned to Greece on loan at PAOK in August 2025. Here, in the current 2025 - 2026 season, he's made seven first team appearances in league matches while also participating in the Europa League Qualifiers and Europa League, scoring a goal respectively in both tournaments.
