Hyeon-gyu Oh, the striker born in Korea Republic on 12 April 2001, currently plies his trade for the Belgium Pro League's Genk. Standing at a height of 1.85m (6ft) and tipping the scales at 83kg (13st), Oh has shown his worth in the number 9 jersey. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is positioned comfortably around £2.9m.
Oh kicked off his professional football journey with Suwon Samsung Bluewings in the K League 2 of his homeland, the Korea Republic, in January 2014. During his time at Suwon, his debut season in 2019 saw him make eleven first team appearances. He further made two league appearances in 2021, and in 2022, he upped his game by making 36 first team appearances, during which he found the back of the net 13 times.
In a brief interlude from Suwon Samsung Bluewings, Oh was loaned to Gimcheon Sangmu in the K League 1 in May 2020. Throughout his tenure with Gimcheon, he made five first team appearances and secured two goals during the 2020 season. The following season, he participated in 33 league matches, managing to net five goals. However, by November 2021, he returned to Suwon Samsung Bluewings as his loan tenure ended. In his return to Suwon, he replicated his previous form from the 2022 season, making 36 first team appearances and scoring 13 goals in league matches.
2023 saw a new dawn for Oh, as he transferred to Scotland's Premiership with Celtic in January for a fee of about £2.5 million. A successful stint with Celtic allowed him to rack up 16 first team appearances, scoring six goals in the first season (2022-2023). His following year was equally impressive, in 2023-2024, as he was involved in 20 first team games and added another five goals to his resume.
However, in July 2024, Oh set his sights away from Scotland and transferred to Belgium's Genk from Celtic for a fee of approximately £2.3 million. Since joining Genk, he has made 27 first team appearances in the 2024-2025 season, scoring seven goals. In the 2025-2026 season, which is still ongoing, he has already made seven first team appearances and has managed to score once. To add more weight to his Genk career, he made significant contributions in the Pro League Play-Offs of 2024-2025 and the Europa League Qualifiers of 2025-2026 through his goal-scoring exploits.
