Jack Hendry, born on 7 May 1995 in Scotland, is a 30-year-old professional footballer who currently plays as a central defender for Al-Ettifaq. He stands at 6ft 4in (1.94m) tall and weighs approximately 13st 12lb (88kg). As well as his club career, he has represented the national team of Scotland.
Starting his career in Scotland, Hendry initially joined Partick Thistle in the Championship in July 2014. During his debut season 2014-2015, he made only one appearance in league matches. The ensuing year, his game time increased albeit slightly, where he made three league appearances.
In September 2015, Hendry transferred from Partick Thistle to Wigan Athletic in the English League One. The fee for this transfer was around £250k. While his time at Wigan was brief, he spent some time on loan at Shrewsbury Town in English League Two in 2016, racking up six league matches. A subsequent loan followed to MK Dons in the same league later in 2016, where he managed to play seven league games.
Journeying back to the Scottish Premiership with Dundee in July 2017, he made 24 first team appearances and scored one goal during the 2017-2018 season. This brought him some recognition leading to his transfer to Celtic in January 2018 for a fee of around £1.5m.
Hendry's tenure at Celtic would unfold across two seasons. He made 11 first team appearances in league matches in the latter half of the 2017 - 2018 season. In the subsequent 2018 - 2019 season, Hendry's game time was reduced as he only made four first team appearances.
In January 2020, an opportunity arose for a loan to Melbourne City in the Australian A-League where he made two first team appearances. By July 2020, he was off on another loan, this time to Oostende in Belgium's Derde Klasse, and his presence became more impactful. He would go on to make 27 first team appearances, and score two goals in the 2020 - 2021 season.
Hendry's performance at Oostende was convincing enough to make the move permanent in July 2021 for a fee of around £1.5m. He continued to be an involved player in both the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons, again making six first team appearances in the latter.
In August 2021, Hendry made yet another transfer; this time to Club Brugge in Belgium's Pro League, commanding a transfer fee of approximately £6m. Demonstrating his value, he played 19 league matches in the 2021 - 2022 season and five in the 2022-2023 season.
Despite his high transfer price, Hendry would be loaned out again, this time to Cremonese in Italy's Serie A in September 2022. His game time saw him make four appearances in the 2022 - 2023 season before returning to Club Brugge at the completion of his loan in January 2023.
Hendry's career at Club Brugge continued for a while until he made an exciting move to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia's Pro League in July 2023 for a fee of around £5.9m. In the current 2025 - 2026 season, Hendry has made 27 first team appearances and scored one goal.
