Leigh Griffiths was a prolific goalscorer for Hibernian in 2012/13 while on loan from Wolves, scoring 28 goals for the Edinburgh side. His performances saw him named PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year and the Scottish Football Writers’ Player of the Year. He returned to Wolves for the 2013/14 season and scored an impressive 13 goals for the Molineux side, before making the move to the Scottish champions in the January 2014 transfer window. Griffiths netted his first goal for Celtic in a 2-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle, and followed that up with a hat-trick at home against Inverness Caley Thistle.
Under Ronny Deila, Griffiths has been played as a winger as well as up front alongside John Guidetti. Alongside his goals against Dundee and Dundee United, Griffiths also managed to score twice after coming on as a substitute against Partick Thistle in the Scottish League Cup, helping Celtic to a six-goal victory. Griffiths would score his third Celtic career hat-trick against Dundee United in April 2015, making him the recipient of the 2015 Top Goalscorer prize at the Celtic Player of the Year awards.
