Toshney made his debut for Celtic on 1 February 2011, coming on as a substitute for Scott Brown in a 3–0 league win over Aberdeen.

After leaving Celtic in the summer of 2014, Toshney spent time on trial at Hearts17 and Hibs. On 27 September 2014, Toshney signed for Ross County and made his debut the same day as they beat Dundee 2–1.
