Liam Shaw, born on 12 March 2001 (24 years of age), hails from England. Shaw, known for his commanding presence in the midfield, primarily operates from the centre for his current club, Northampton Town. His physical attributes, standing 6ft 1in tall (1.87m) and weighing 11st 6lb (73kg), complement his style of play on the field. He is regularly spotted in the number 29 jersey.
In 2017, Shaw initiated his professional career with Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championship, joining as a trainee. Despite being with the club for a few years, his first-team debut came in the 2019-2020 season, where he made two appearances in league matches. The following season saw an increase in his involvement, as he made 19 appearances for his team, managing to score his debut goal in league play.
In July 2021, Shaw took a significant step in his career by transferring to Celtic in Scotland's Premiership, for a fairly modest fee of approximately £300,000. Unfortunately, his time at Celtic was not marked with a notable number of appearances, as he only got a singular opportunity to take the field in a league match during the 2021-2022 season.
In the quest for more playing time, Shaw was loaned out to Motherwell, also in Scotland's Premiership, in January 2022. He was able to claim more playing time, as reflected by his seven appearances in league matches for the latter part of the 2021-2022 season.
Further diversifying his experience, Shaw found himself loaned out again in September 2022, but this time across the border to Morecambe in England's National League. This endeavour turned out to be more fruitful. Shaw graced the field in 28 league matches, finding the net twice for his temporary employers during the 2022-2023 season.
Further loans ensued, with Shaw joining Wigan Athletic in League One in July 2023. His exact performance during this loan period has not been recorded in the notes.
In an intriguing turn of events, Shaw left Celtic permanently in October 2024, to join Fleetwood Town in England's League Two. However, this arrangement did not last long as in January 2025, he swapped Fleetwood for Northampton Town in League One for an undisclosed fee. The current season, however, has not seen Shaw make an appearance for his new home yet.
Despite having a journey filled with frequent relocations and several loans, Liam Shaw has consistently showcased the qualities that make him a player to watch for avid followers of football.
