Liam Shaw, born on 12 March 2001, is a 24-year-old English-born midfielder currently plying his trade with Northampton Town. With a physical presence, standing at 6ft 1in (1.87m) and weighing 11st 6lb (73kg), Shaw occupies the centre of the park with conviction, wearing the number 29 jersey.
Shaw's ascendency in the football landscape began in July 2017 when he joined Sheffield Wednesday as a trainee. He made his first team debut in the 2019-2020 season, clocking up two appearances in the Championship. His playing time increased notably in the subsequent season, with 19 appearances and a solitary goal to his name.
In what proved to be a brief but notable juncture in his career, Shaw transferred to Celtic in Scotland's Premiership in July 2021 for a fee of around £300,000. However, his tenure was short-lived, marked by a single first-team appearance during the 2021-2022 season.
By January of 2022, Shaw found himself on the move once again, as he transitioned to fellow Premiership side Motherwell on a loan deal. Here, he chalked up a respectable seven first team appearances. His propensity for frequent relocation didn't wane, as by September 2022, he was once again on loan, this time with Morecambe in England's National League. A fruitful season saw Shaw make 28 first team appearances and score twice.
Even in his habitually transient career, Celtic played a pivotal role. In July 2023, despite making only a negligible impact during his brief spell with the club, Shaw was again loaned out from Celtic, this time to Wigan Athletic in England's League One.
Leaving Scotland behind, Shaw transferred from Celtic to Fleetwood Town in England's League Two in October 2024. His affair with Fleetwood Town was short-lived, however, as by January 2025 he found himself switching teams and leagues to join Northampton Town in League One, his current club, the financials of which were undisclosed.
Looking to the present 2025-2026 season at Northampton Town, Shaw has yet to make an appearance, and fans will certainly be eager to see what contributions the towering midfielder can make to their campaign.
