Liam Shaw, born on 12 March 2001 in England, is a midfielder currently playing as a central midfielder for Northampton Town. The 24-year-old stands 6ft 1in (1.87m) tall and weighs 11st 6lb (73kg). He is often seen donning the number 29 jersey on the pitch.
Shaw embarked on his footballing journey as a trainee with Sheffield Wednesday in July 2017, situated in the Championship, England's second-tier league. He made his first-team debut during the 2019-2020 season, making two appearances in league matches. The following season, Shaw became a more regular feature, appearing 19 times and netting one goal.
In July 2021, Shaw transferred from Sheffield Wednesday to Celtic in Scotland's Premiership, for a fee of around £300,000. His stint at Celtic, however, was rather short-lived. During the 2021-2022 season, Shaw only made a single appearance in league matches for the Bhoys.
Show's time with Celtic is distinguishable for its fleet-footedness. Shaw was out on loan as early as January 2022, a mere six months following his arrival at Parkhead, joining Motherwell of the Scottish Premiership. During the latter half of the season, he made seven appearances in league matches for Motherwell.
The pattern continued into the next season. Shaw, still a Celtic player on paper, transferred on loan to Morecambe of England's National League in September 2022. This time, he enjoyed regular playing time, making 28 first-team appearances while adding two goals to his tally.
In July 2023, another loan departure from Celtic saw Shaw join Wigan Athletic, competing in England's third tier, league one. After Celtic, he made a permanent move to Fleetwood Town in the League Two in England in October 2024.
Shaw's latest move came in January 2025, as he transferred from Fleetwood Town to his current club, Northampton Town in the English League One, for a fee that remains undisclosed. So far, in the current 2025-2026 season, the midfielder hasn't yet found game time in league matches.
These different experiences have shaped Shaw and his playing style, and it will be interesting to see the progression of his career unfolds.
