Born in England on 21 November 2000, Matt O'Riley, at 25 years of age, serves as a central midfielder for Marseille. Standing tall at 6ft 1in (1.87m) and tipping the scales at 12st 1lb (77kg), he dons the number 17 jersey. Though English by birth, O'Riley has represented the Denmark national team.

His football career germinated when he joined Fulham as a trainee in July 2009 in the heart of the Premier League in England. In his debut season of 2019 - 2020, he stepped onto the field for one first team match.
January 2021 marked a pivotal point in his career as he was transferred from Fulham to MK Dons in England's League Two for an undisclosed fee. However, a year later, in January 2022, O'Riley crossed the border to join Celtic in the Premiership in Scotland for a fee of around £1.5m.
At Celtic, O'Riley found his footing, making 16 first team appearances and netting four league goals in his first season. Progressing into the 2022 - 2023 season, O'Riley clocked 38 appearances and scored three goals. On a high note, he thrived in the Celtic green and white in the 2023 - 2024 season, scoring 18 times in 37 appearances. His Celtic journey was cut short in the 2024 - 2025 season, as he only made two appearances before Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League acquired him for a hefty sum of £25m in August 2024.
At Brighton & Hove Albion, O'Riley cemented his position with 21 appearances and two goals in the 2024 - 2025 season. Currently, in the 2025 - 2026 season, he has already made two appearances and scored a goal. But an unexpected twist saw him transferred on loan to Marseille in the Ligue 1 in France in September 2025. At Marseille, O'Riley has graced the field 11 times and made the net ripple once in the current 2025 - 2026 season.
On the international front, he has represented Denmark in the World Cup Qualifiers Europe 2024 - 2026 with two substitute appearances, kicked off in the Euro Qualifiers 2022 - 2024 with a start, and put on an impressive show in the Champions League 2025 - 2026 for Marseille with three starts and two substitute appearances.
