Gustaf Lagerbielke, born in Stockholm on 10 April 2000 (age 26), is a Swedish central defender with the sort of frame that tends to get noticed before the finer details do. At 6ft 3in (1.91m), he is an imposing presence, and his senior career began to gather shape in Sweden before Celtic came into the picture.
His most productive league season came with Degerfors IF in 2022, when he scored three goals in 14 appearances. From there he moved on to IF Elfsborg, and Celtic paid around £3m to bring him to Glasgow in August 2023.
Lagerbielke’s Celtic spell did not become a long one, but it was not empty. He won the Scottish Cup during his time at the club, a useful medal from a period that otherwise felt more functional than settled. In July 2025, Celtic sold him to SC Braga for around £2m.
Braga has given him a clearer run of football. Wearing number four, he has remained a regular first-team presence in 2025–26, making 28 Liga Portugal appearances and scoring twice, with further involvement in Europa League qualifying and the Europa League proper. Across all competitions for Braga, he has made 47 appearances and scored two goals.
He has also stayed in Sweden’s international picture, featuring in World Cup qualifying during the season and scoring once. His current market value is around £4.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Lagerbielke’s career so far has taken him from Sweden to Celtic and on to Braga, where he is playing regularly and remains involved at international level. It is a steady profile rather than a spectacular one, but his current role in Portugal gives it some substance.
