Hyunjun Yang, born in South Korea on 25 May 2002 (age 23), came through at Gangwon FC before Celtic moved for him in July 2023. His best league return in Korea had come in 2022, when he scored eight goals in 36 appearances, enough to mark him out as more than a speculative wide option.
Celtic paid around £2m to bring him from Gangwon, and he has had to earn his place rather than inherit one. Primarily a right winger, wearing squad number 13, Yang has become a regular first-team presence by 2025-26, with 31 league appearances and eight league goals so far. Across all competitions this season he has made 47 appearances and scored 10 goals, including contributions in the League Cup and Europa League.
His time at Celtic has already brought a Premiership title, a League Cup and a Scottish Cup, as well as one Scottish Cup runners-up finish. He has also remained involved internationally, making three World Cup qualifying appearances for South Korea this season.
His current market value is around £4.5m, according to Transfermarkt. Yang is still developing, but he is no longer just a project signing. He is part of the working group at Celtic now, with enough end product to keep him relevant in a demanding wide area.
