Ismaila Soro was born in Yakassé-Mé, Côte d’Ivoire, on 7 May 1998 (age 28). A central defensive midfielder, he came to Celtic’s attention after making his name with Bnei Yehuda in Israel.
Celtic signed him from Bnei Yehuda in January 2020 for around £2m. His best league return came in 2020-2021, when he made 19 appearances and scored once. He offered energy and bite in midfield, though his Celtic spell never quite developed into a settled, long-term place in the side.
Soro left Celtic in September 2023 for Beitar Jerusalem. After that spell, he became more firmly established back at Bnei Yehuda, where his career has continued in the Israeli game.
His career has been shaped by moves between Israel and Scotland, with Celtic the highest-profile stop but not the place where he fully settled.
