Jack Hendry, born in Glasgow on 7 May 1995 (age 31), is a Scotland centre-half now with Al-Ettifaq. An imposing 6ft 4in (1.94m) defender, he moved to Celtic from Dundee in January 2018 for around £1.5m, arriving as a player with obvious physical tools but still plenty to prove.

His Celtic spell never quite settled into the shape either side would have wanted. Hendry left in July 2021, joining Oostende for around £1.5m, and it was in Belgium that his career found firmer ground. The 2020-21 league season at Oostende was his most productive, with two goals in 27 appearances, and it helped put him back into a more stable senior rhythm.

After Celtic, his path took in Oostende, Club Brugge and then Al-Ettifaq. It has not been a straight line, but it has been a durable one. By 2025-26, wearing number four for Al-Ettifaq, he has remained a regular first-team presence, making 30 Saudi Pro League appearances and scoring one goal.

Hendry has also stayed in Scotland contention this season, with appearances in World Cup and European qualifying football. His career has moved from Dundee to Celtic, then through Belgium and on to Saudi Arabia, with regular football now the clearest measure of where he stands.

Jack Hendry was a regular starter for Al-Ettifaq in the 2025-26 Pro League, making 30 appearances and starting 29 times. One goal from central defence was a secondary contribution, while six yellows and one red pointed to an assertive defensive role with some disciplinary cost.

Hendry's path moved from Celtic to Oostende, then to Club Brugge, Cremonese on loan and Al-Ettifaq. The sequence suggested a defender who rebuilt value after leaving Celtic, moved on again at a higher fee, and remained a regular senior centre-back by age 31.

The transfer trail was fee-heavy rather than free-transfer driven. Celtic received 1.5m when Hendry moved to Oostende in 2021, Oostende then sold him to Club Brugge for 6.0m, and Club Brugge later moved him to Al-Ettifaq for 5.9m after a Cremonese loan and return.
