Johnny Kenny is a Republic of Ireland striker from Riverstown, County Sligo, born on 9 June 2003 (age 22). He is 5ft 10in (1.77m) and 11st 3lb (71kg), and now plays for Bolton Wanderers, wearing squad number 24.
Kenny first made his name at Sligo Rovers before Celtic brought him to Glasgow in January 2022 for around £140,000. It was the sort of move Celtic have often favoured: a young Irish forward with senior football already behind him, bought before the market had a proper argument with itself.
His Celtic spell did not turn into an established first-team place. The years that followed took him through football elsewhere, including Queen's Park, Sligo Rovers and a more productive period with Shamrock Rovers. His best league return came in 2024, when he scored 13 goals in 29 appearances.
Kenny left Celtic in February 2026 for Bolton Wanderers. In the 2025-26 season, he has made 13 league appearances and scored six league goals. His current market value is around £510,000, according to Transfermarkt.
His career so far has been shaped by an early move to Celtic, regular spells away from Glasgow, and a gradual build-up of senior football before his move to Bolton.
