Kieran Tierney was born on 5 June 1997 (age 29) in the Isle of Man and represents Scotland. A left-back by trade, he came through at Celtic and became an important first-team player before leaving for Arsenal in August 2019 for around £25m.
His first Celtic spell brought plenty of substance as well as silverware. Tierney won five Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups, the kind of haul that tends to settle arguments without much need for decoration.
Arsenal took him south for a major fee, and his time there kept him in the wider British game’s eye. In July 2025 he returned to Celtic from Arsenal, not as a prospect being revived but as a known quantity coming back into a side that still had use for him.
That return has not been ceremonial. In 2025-26 he has made 35 league appearances for Celtic and scored six goals, his most productive league season, while also playing in the Scottish Cup, Champions League qualifiers and Europa League. Across all competitions for Celtic this season, he has made 49 appearances and scored six goals. He has also featured for Scotland in World Cup qualifying, scoring once in three appearances.
Tierney wears squad number 63 and remains a regular first-team presence. His current market value is around £7m, according to Transfermarkt. His career has already taken him from Celtic academy player to major sale and back again, with his second Celtic spell adding a practical new chapter rather than a sentimental footnote.
