Undeniably passionate about the beautiful game, wee Aaron Donnelly was brought into this world on the 8th of June 2003 in Northern Ireland. The Irish lad is known for his roles on the defensive line, primarily as a central defender, strutting his stuff for Dundee. A skilful player, he stands tall at 6 ft (approximately 1.85m) and tips the scales at around 11st 9lbs (roughly 74kg). Donned in his characteristic number 6 jersey, Aaron has also represented the Northern Ireland national team at an international level.
Having a look at the money side of things, Aaron's current market value is around £345k, although you never can tell with the nature of football these days, but that's the recent evaluation from Transfermarkt at least.
The unassuming Irishman got his first break at Nottingham Forest as a trainee in July 2019. However, he didn't stay rooted in the Forest for long as Aaron joined Port Vale in League One on a loan in January 2023. During his debut season (2022-2023) with Port Vale, he confidently stepped onto the field nine times, managing to score once.
Following his stint at Vale, Donnelly journeyed north, relocating to Scotland and joining Dundee in the Premiership on loan in July 2023. The 2023-2024 season showcased his potential as he made 21 league appearances and, in the subsequent season, scored a goal whilst totting up a further 11 matches. The current 2025-2026 season so far has seen him play twice, a stat that's likely to grow as the season progresses.
In August 2024, his roadmap took yet another turn as he trotted off to Colchester United in League Two on a loan. However, giving credence to the old saying, "there's no place like home", Aaron was drawn back to Dundee in January 2025, this time wrapped up with the permanence of an undisclosed fee. He continues to display good form with a steady tally of matches and a goal this time around. And to put the cherry on top, he got a starting opportunity in the League Cup (2025-2026) with Dundee.
All in all, for those of us who ardently admire the Hoops, it's not about the jersey or the club, it's about the love for the football and the players who pour their heart and soul into the game, much like our Aaron Donnelly.
