Ademola Lookman, born on 20 October 1997 (age 28), is a Nigeria forward now with Atletico Madrid, where he wears number 22. His current market value is around £34m, according to Transfermarkt.
Lookman’s early career was shaped as much by loans as by permanent moves. After breaking through in English football, he had a useful spell at RB Leipzig, then later gained further senior grounding at Fulham and Leicester City. Those periods did not turn him into a finished article overnight, but they gave him minutes, responsibility and a clearer route towards becoming a more reliable attacking player.
His best league return came at Atalanta in 2024-2025, when he scored 15 goals in 31 appearances. That season gave proper substance to a career that had sometimes looked a little restless, and it led him on to Atletico Madrid.
In 2025-2026, Lookman remains a regular first-team presence for Atletico. He has made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals, including four in 12 LaLiga matches, three in the Copa del Rey and three in the Champions League. He has also remained involved with Nigeria, making 10 appearances in African World Cup qualifying.
Lookman’s career has moved through England, Germany, Italy and Spain, with the loan spells doing important early work before his more productive years at Atalanta and Atletico. He is now an established senior forward rather than a prospect waiting to settle.
