Aidan Borland, born 25 April 2007 (age 19), is a Scottish central midfielder who came through at Celtic before leaving for Aston Villa in July 2023 for around £300,000. That move took him out of Lennoxtown before he had a senior Celtic story to tell, but it remains the obvious starting point in his career.
His route since then has led to Swindon Town, where he has been part of the first-team picture in 2025–2026. He has made 16 League Two appearances, along with one in the FA Cup and three in the EFL Trophy, giving him 20 appearances in all competitions. He has yet to score for Swindon, but regular involvement at that age is not nothing.
Borland’s career is still at an early stage: Celtic academy, Aston Villa move, then senior football with Swindon. For now, he is a young Scottish midfielder getting proper minutes in England’s lower leagues.
