Aidan Nesbitt, once a promising star in the sky of Scottish football, can be best summarised with the phrase 'a nomad of sorts'. Born on the 5th of February, 1997, he has carried the banner of traditional Scottish grit and tenacity along his footballing journey. His journeyman career, beginning at Celtic and currently continuing at Falkirk, has seen him adapt to varied roles, primarily in the position of a left winger.
Standing at a respectable 5ft 8in (1.74m) and weighing about 10 stones 3 pounds (65 kg), Nesbitt can be seen wearing the number 10 jersey, a testament to his attacking inclinations. Currently 27 years of age, he has a contract with Falkirk that runs until the 31st of May, 2025.
His exit from Celtic was a two-part saga, involving loan spells at Partick Thistle and Greenock Morton in the Championship. Initially, in February 2016, he moved from Celtic to Partick Thistle, where in his debut 2015 - 2016 season, he made just seven first-team league appearances. He then joined Greenock Morton in August 2016 for a season-long loan, where he made 30 first-team appearances in league matches and netted once.
In shows of both bravery and ambition, Nesbitt bid farewell to Scottish soil in August 2017 to join MK Dons in the English League Two for an undisclosed fee. There, he made 14 appearances in his 2017-2018 season, contributing two goals.
He returned to Scotland in January of 2019, joining Dundee United. He enjoyed a short stint before moving again, this time back to his previous loan home, Greenock Morton, in July 2019. However, his tally of 30 appearances and a single goal mirrored his performance at the very same club, pointing towards a level of consistency, albeit stagnant growth.
Fast-forwarding to July 2021, the goal-count remains a consistent theme, with a couple of them to his credit at his current club, Falkirk, where he has made 27 appearances in the 2022-2023 season. In the current 2024-2025 season, he has 10 appearances and a single goal to his name. His adventures also witnessed him featuring in the League Cup 2024 -2025, scoring twice in three starts, and starting once in the Scottish Cup 2023 - 2024.
Indeed, Nesbitt's football journey is a testament to the spirit of the game, the ups and downs that come with it, and most importantly, the undying determination to carry on, regardless of circumstance.
