Alan Stubbs, born on 6 October 1971 in England, is a notable football figure. The defender, primarily known for his central defensive skills, stands at 6ft 2in (1.88m) and weighs around 14st 4lb (91kg). Early on in his career, Stubbs displayed great promise as he received his training at Bolton Wanderers in English League One, beginning in July 1990. Over his time at Bolton, he racked up various impressive statistics, including a total of 202 first team appearances and nine goals over six seasons.
In July 1996, Stubbs made the significant move to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, a transfer that saw a fee of around £3.5m change hands. Celtic supporters fondly remember Stubbs for his defensive steadiness and the occasional goal. Over his five seasons at the club, he made 106 league appearances and contributed four goals. This period constituted some of the prime years of his career.
Leaving Celtic behind in July 2001, Stubbs transferred back to the English Premier League, this time with Everton. Over seven seasons he played in 190 league games and scored six goals for Everton. A brief interlude in this stint occurred when he transferred to Sunderland in the Championship in August 2005, where he made ten appearances and notched up one goal. However, he made his way back to Everton in a matter of months, in January 2006.
In his twilight football years, Stubbs made a move in January 2008 to Derby County in the English Championship. Here, he ended his active playing career after making nine appearances over two seasons. His journey from player to football manager followed after that, marking yet another chapter in Stubbs' vast football career.
