Alasana Manneh, born on 8 April 1998 (age 28), is a Gambian central midfielder with Hibernian. His career has been shaped less by one smooth rise than by a run of moves that gave him senior football early and forced him to adapt.
Those early loan spells mattered. Time away from his parent club gave Manneh the practical minutes young midfielders need, especially in the less forgiving parts of the game: positioning, tempo, and the routine business of looking after the ball under pressure. There is no glamour in that, which is usually the point.
His most productive league season came with Gornik Zabrze in 2020-21, when he scored three goals in 27 league appearances. For a centre midfielder, that was a useful return and, more importantly, evidence of regular involvement across a proper league campaign.
