Born in Germany on 30 September 1996, Alexander Nübel is a goalkeeper currently plying his trade at Stuttgart. In possession of a formidable stature, the German stands at 6ft 3in (1.93m) and carries a considerable weight of 13st 3lb (84kg). On the pitch, he can commonly be seen adorning the number 33 jersey.
Nübel’s backstory is not confined to club football; he has also had the honour of representing the German national team. His talents have not gone unnoticed in the world of football finance, with Transfermarkt currently valuing the goalkeeper’s market value at around £10.25m.
Nübel took his first steps into professional football in 2014 when he joined 2. Bundesliga’s Paderborn 07. This was relatively short-lived though, as in August 2015 Nübel moved on to Schalke 04 for a nominal fee of about £128k. His debut season saw him making a solitary first team appearance in league matches.
Over the following seasons at Schalke 04, Nübel made incremental moves towards becoming a regular fixture between the sticks, making a further single appearance in the 2017/2018 season before making 18 in the 2018/2019 season and finally becoming a staple in the 2019/2020 season with 26 appearances to his name. Despite a relatively quiet 2020/2021 season at Bayern Munich, where he made just one first-team appearance in league matches, in July 2021, Nübel was sent out on loan to French side Monaco. Proving himself a first-team mainstay in Ligue 1, Nübel made impressive 38 appearances in both the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons respectively.
In June 2023, following his successful stint at Monaco, Nübel returned to Bayern Munich. A single first team outing in the 2020/2021 season prompted a subsequent loan move to Stuttgart in July 2023. Since his arrival, the German has amassed a total of 87 first team appearances in league matches over three seasons. Furthermore, he has solidified his role on the European stage, having started in nine games of the Europa League 2025 - 2026 season for Stuttgart.
