Alonzo Engwanda, born on 27 January 2003 (age 23), is a Belgian defensive midfielder whose senior career has become firmly centred on FC Utrecht. Before that, his most substantial league run came with RSCA Futures in 2023-2024, when he made 20 appearances without scoring.
Utrecht is where his career has properly taken shape. Wearing squad number 27, he has made 55 league appearances across two seasons, with his value now around £6m according to Transfermarkt. He is not there to provide goals, which the record rather bluntly confirms, but to sit in midfield and keep the side functioning.
He remained a regular first-team presence in 2025-2026, making 34 Eredivisie appearances and featuring across the KNVB Beker, Europa League qualifiers, Europa League proper and the European play-offs. That gave him 51 FC Utrecht appearances across all competitions for the season, again without a goal.
Engwanda’s career is still developing, but it is already heavily shaped by Utrecht: a Belgian midfielder established in their side, trusted often, and still relevant in the current team.
