Ben Wylie, born on 29 June 2002 (age 23), is a Northern Irish centre midfielder whose career has had an early Celtic strand without being shaped by it. He joined Celtic from Ballymena United in July 2021, a useful move on paper, but his senior career unfolded elsewhere after he left for Ytterhogdals in August 2023.
From there, Wylie moved through Ytterhogdals, Cliftonville and Coleraine before finding his most substantial run at Portadown. That is the spell which gives his career its clearest shape: 53 league appearances and five league goals across two seasons, enough to mark him as a regular rather than a passing name.
He has remained active and relevant in 2025-26, with 36 league appearances and six goals, including his most productive league return at Coleraine with three goals in 15 matches. Wylie’s career is still a developing one, but it has already moved well beyond the academy-football orbit of his Celtic years.
