Benjamin Siegrist, a Swiss national, was born on 31st January 1992 bringing him to the mature age of 33. He was playing the goalkeeper position for Genoa, standing tall at 1.96m (6ft 5in) and weighing around 97kg (15st 3lb). Proudly wearing the number 31 jersey across his broad shoulders, Siegrist further enhanced his career through representation of the Switzerland national team.
In July 2012, Benjamin Siegrist's career took a turn when he joined Aston Villa in the Premier League. However, his journey with them was temporary as he was transferred on loan to Burton Albion in League One, England in November 2013. He continued his journey on loan and switched to Cambridge United in League Two, England in March 2014. During his debut season 2013-2014 at Cambridge United, Siegrist had the opportunity to prove his mettle, making three first team appearances in the league.
In a continuous tussle of on loan transfers, Siegrist moved from Aston Villa to Wycombe Wanderers in League One, England in March 2016, where he made one first team appearance in league matches in the 2015-2016 season. In July 2016, he was transferred from Aston Villa to Vaduz in the Challenge League in Switzerland, and in his 2016-2017 season at Vaduz, he made 27 first team appearances in league matches, followed by five more in the 2017-2018 season.
Taking his career to the north, Siegrist transferred from Vaduz in the Challenge League in Switzerland to Dundee United in the Premiership in Scotland in July 2018. He showcased significant participation at Dundee United with 32 first team appearances in league matches in the 2020-2021 season, followed by 34 appearances in the following season.
Interestingly, in July 2022, the Scottish Premiership saw Siegrist transferring to Celtic, a prime club well known for its intense football and passionate fans. His time at Celtic was notable, mastering the art of goalkeeping in the Scottish Premiership until July 2024. Scottish football would indeed long remember him for his dedication. After his stint with Celtic, he moved on to Rapid Bucuresti in Liga I, Romania.
Astonishingly, his journey took a globetrotting turn as he traveled from Rapid Bucuresti to Genoa in Serie A, Italy, in January 2025. He served as the goalkeeper at Genoa, and while he made only two first team appearances in league matches in the 2024-25 season and none in the current 2025-2026 season, his contribution to the teams he's played for is undeniable.
