Berat Djimsiti, born on 19 February 1993 (age 33), is an Albania international central defender whose career has been shaped far more by Atalanta than by anywhere else. A commanding 6ft 3in (1.90m) presence, he has become a familiar part of their back line rather than a passing name in it.
His early senior football included a productive spell at FC Zurich, where his 2014–15 league season brought 33 appearances and two goals. That remains his best league return in front of goal, which is about right for a defender whose value has never really been in that department.
Atalanta is where the career settled. Across nine seasons he has made 254 league appearances for the Bergamo club, scoring five times, and he continues to carry relevance in the side rather than merely occupying a squad place. In 2025–26, wearing number 19, he has made 34 Serie A appearances, with further involvement in the Coppa Italia and Champions League taking him to 47 appearances in all competitions, including one cup goal.
He has also remained part of Albania’s international set-up, making eight appearances in European World Cup qualifying this season. His market value is around £8.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Djimsiti’s career has moved from Zurich into a long, steady Atalanta spell, with Albania duties running alongside it. He is still a regular first-team defender in 2025–26, which says enough about the durability of his place there.
