Berat Djimsiti, born on 19 February 1993 (age 33), is an Albania international central defender whose career has been shaped far more by Atalanta than by anywhere else. A commanding 6ft 3in (1.90m) presence, he has become a familiar part of their back line rather than a passing name in it.
His early senior football included a productive spell at FC Zurich, where his 2014–15 league season brought 33 appearances and two goals. That remains his best league return in front of goal, which is about right for a defender whose value has never really been in that department.
Atalanta is where the career settled. Across nine seasons he has made 254 league appearances for the Bergamo club, scoring five times, and he continues to carry relevance in the side rather than merely occupying a squad place.
