Bryan Cristante, born on 3 March 1995 (age 31), is an Italian central defensive midfielder whose career is now overwhelmingly tied to Roma. He wears the number 4 shirt and is valued at around £6m by Transfermarkt.
Before Roma became the main body of his career, Cristante’s development was shaped by his earlier spell at Atalanta. The 2017-18 league season remains his most productive, with nine goals in 36 appearances, a return that pushed him beyond the category of useful midfielder and into something more substantial.
Roma is where that substance has been tested over time. Across nine seasons he has made 273 league appearances and scored 18 league goals, a sizeable body of work in a role that rarely lends itself to easy headlines. In 2026-27, he has made four league appearances for Roma, along with one Champions League appearance in which he scored.
He has also remained involved with Italy, making five appearances in European World Cup qualifying this season. Cristante’s career has had its important staging posts, but it is the long Roma spell that gives it its shape: durable, senior, and plainly central to the player he became.
