Ward's football career took off in earnest in July 2018 when he joined Bournemouth in the Premier League. But his days with the English club were numbered as, in January 2021, he transferred to HIFK Fotboll in the Ykkönen, Finland's second tier of football. After a year in the Ykkönen, Ward made yet another move in January 2022. This time he transferred from HIFK Fotboll to AC Oulu, a club plying their trade in Finland's premier division, the Veikkausliiga.
In his debut season with Oulu, he made 25 first-team appearances. He carried his consistency into the next two seasons with the club, making 25 and 27 first-team appearances respectively in the 2023 and 2024 league matches.
In February 2025, Ward bid farewell to Finland and made his way to the green pastures of Scotland, joining Motherwell in the Premiership, the pinnacle of Scottish football. During the current 2025/26 season, the reliable goalie has already made 29 first-team appearances in league matches. Additionally, he has been in the thick of action in the 2025/26 season's League Cup for Motherwell, getting his name on the starting sheet five times.
