Born on 19th September 1996, Chris Cadden is a right-back who trades his craft for Hibernian, one of Scotland's enduring football institutions. The Scotsman has a physical presence on the field; he stands at 6ft (1.83m) and weighs 11st 13lb (76kg). With the number 12 jersey on his back, Cadden has plied his trade in various leagues and continents.
Briefly glossing over his journey, it all began for Cadden in the summer of 2013, in the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell. His time there spanned various seasons wherein his first team inclusion gradually increased, from a paltry three appearances in his debut season, to an impressive 36 appearances in the 2016-2017 season. He also somehow found the time to open his scoring account with memorable strikes in various seasons.
Cadden's progress did not go unnoticed, and he was loaned out to Albion Rovers in the Lowland League in Scotland in March 2015. Despite the limited performance time, he managed to make ten first team appearances and scored twice, earning his return to Motherwell in June 2015 where he embroidered his story further with admirable commitment and some net-ruffling efforts.
As the summer of 2019 dawned, the call of the new world proved irresistible. Leaving Motherwell, Cadden crossed the Atlantic to join the Columbus Crew in the MLS, a move sealed for an undisclosed fee. The stint was short, but he made a decent figure of eight appearances in the 2020 season.
However, leaving home brought its own challenges, and by July the same year, he found himself on loan at Oxford United in the Championship in England. Yet Columbus Crew saw value in having him back, taking him home from loan in January 2020. His second chapter at Columbus Crew found him barely getting a foothold in the first team, featuring just eight times during the 2020 season.
The shifting sands of football life moved Cadden once more in January 2021. The defender returned to his native soil, signing with Hibernian, again for an undisclosed fee. His efforts have been commendable, and he has been a dependable figure in the defensive line, making a significant number of appearances across seasons and even registering a few goals to his name.
Remarkably, Cadden has also made his mark on the bigger stages. His exploits in the League Cup 2024-2025 and the Scottish Cup 2023-2024 for Hibernian have seen him earn a place in the starting eleven and impress as a substitute.
