Christopher Jullien, born in Lagny-sur-Marne on 22 March 1993 (age 33), is a Guadeloupean central defender whose career has largely been built in France, either side of a three-year spell at Celtic. At 6ft 5in (1.96m), he has always had the imposing frame expected of a centre-half, though his best scoring season came early, with nine goals in 34 league appearances for Dijon in 2015-16.
He moved on to Toulouse, where he became established enough for Celtic to pay around £7m for him in July 2019. That was a serious outlay by the club’s standards, and it placed him in a position where competence alone was never going to feel quite enough.
Jullien left Celtic in August 2022, joining Montpellier. His time there was followed by a return to Toulouse, where he became more fully settled again as a central defender. His current market value is around £595,000, according to Transfermarkt.
His career has taken him from Dijon to Toulouse, then Celtic, Montpellier and back to Toulouse. The Celtic spell remains the obvious Scottish reference point, but the broader shape of his career is that of an experienced French-based defender with a notable spell abroad.
