Cillian Sheridan was born on 23 February 1989 and is of Irish descent. A proficient striker, he stood 6ft 5in (1.96m) tall and weighed 13st 9lb (87kg). Having started his footballing career in his native land, Sheridan journeyed across the Irish Sea to join Celtic in Scotland's Premiership as a trainee in July 2005.
Sheridan's tenure at Celtic was marked by sporadic first team appearances and stints on loan. Debuting in the 2006 - 2007 season, Sheridan made scarce impact with only one league match under his belt. However, the 2008 - 2009 season saw Sheridan take to the pitch 12 times for Celtic, netting four goals in the process.
Still in part of Celtic's fold, Sheridan embarked on multiple loan stints starting from February 2009. Motherwell, Plymouth Argyle, St Johnstone; all had the services of Sheridan albeit on a temporary basis. While his performances varied from club to club, his two seasons at St Johnstone yielded ten goals from a combined 44 appearances.
August of 2010 saw Sheridan leaving Celtic for good, transferring to CSKA Sofia in the Bulgarian First League for an undisclosed fee. Subsequently, he plied his trade for various clubs across different leagues. From CSKA Sofia he moved back to Scotland with St Johnstone on loan, then Kilmarnock, APOEL in Cyprus, Omonia Nicosia, Jagiellonia Białystok in Poland, Wellington Phoenix in Australia, Ironi Kiryat Shmona in Israel, Wisla Plock again in Poland, Dundee in Scotland, Inverness CT, and Queen's Park in Scotland;
Cillian Sheridan's career took him all across the globe. From scoring goals in Scotland's Premiership to playing under the hot Cyprus sun to braving the colder climates of Poland, Sheridan's journey exemplifies the nomadic nature of being a professional footballer. Regardless of the number of clubs on his CV, Sheridan's roots will always trace back to Celtic, his first club outside of Ireland. From a trainee at Celtic Park to a journeyman forward with a trail of goals across Europe, Sheridan's career is nothing if not an affront to the otherwise mundane predictability of football transfers.
