Cole Campbell, born 20 February 2006 in the USA, is a forward specialising as a right winger currently playing for Borussia Dortmund. At a sprightly 18 years of age, Campbell stands 1.7m tall (approximately 5ft 6in) and tips the scales at 68kg (or about 10st 9lb). On match days, you'll find him wearing the number 37 jersey for the black and yellows of Dortmund.
His current contract with Borussia Dortmund still has a substantial 3 years and 9 months remaining, penned to expire on the 30 June 2028. This level of commitment bodes well for both the player and club, suggesting that they see a long-term future together.
Campbell joined the Bundesliga heavyweights of Borussia Dortmund in July 2022, coming on board as a trainee. His progress through the ranks, however, hasn't been as smooth as one might hope. In the current season of 2024 - 2025, he has yet to make a first team appearance in league matches for the main Borussia Dortmund squad.
An intriguing twist came in September 2024, when Campbell was transferred from the top-tier Borussia Dortmund squad to the club's secondary team, Borussia Dortmund II, playing in Germany's 3. Liga. Offering him more pitch time, here the young American made an impression with five first team appearances and one goal on the score sheet.
Yet the rigmarole of transfer didn't end there. In October 2024, Campbell was hoisted back up to the main Borussia Dortmund squad. This promotion, however, has yet to result in additional league appearances for the current 2024 - 2025 season.
In spite of these teething problems, one must bear in mind Campbell's youth. His career is still in the early stages, and these experiences will be forming the foundation of his future in football. With time still on his side, it's a name worth remembering.
