In another distinctly unremarkable instalment of the adventures of the Scottish footballing fraternity, we turn our attention to one Cole McKinnon. Blessed on the 29th of January, 2003, in the chilly vistas of Scotland, he has ended up, rather unfortunately, in the ranks of Rangers. Regularly tried and tested in the central midfield position, and adorned with the no. 48 jersey, the lad stands at a height of 5ft 10in (1.78m) and tips the scales at 11st 2lb (71kg).
March 2021, saw McKinnon embark on a whimsical pilgrimage and a short vacation from Rangers onto the somewhat less glamorous turf of East Fife, located quaintly in Scotland's League Two. Yet, unable to combat the heart-wrenching separation from his Premiership compatriots at Rangers, our hero swiftly returned to his old stomping grounds by June 2021.
The 2021 - 2022 season wasn't exactly awash with glory for the young 'un. His astonishing one-time appearance did, however, result in an amusing single goal to the Rangers' tally. Fast forward to 2023 - 2024, and our starlet once again glittered on the Rangers' field a grand total of one time with zero goals. The current season has arguably been his best yet, with a resounding zero appearances to his name.
Forging ahead in July 2022, McKinnon took another experimental detour, this time lending his talents to Partick Thistle in the Championship on loan. The 2022 - 2023 season there saw him rack up 22 appearances and three goals - stats that could almost be mistaken for a professional footballer's. Naturally, missing the bigger puddle to splash in, he returned to Rangers by June 2023.
And so, the story of his Rangers career continues in the same fashion. Apart from a brief sojourn to the grand spectacle of the Europa League 2023 - 2024 where he managed a single anonymous appearance as a substitute. That, as they say, was that.
Cole McKinnon, dear readers, another bright spark in the dazzling world of Scottish football. Or perhaps not.
