Born on Hogmanay in 1982, Scottish goalkeeper Craig Gordon plies his trade with Hearts and over the years has constructed quite a remarkable career under the number 1 jersey. Standing at 6ft 3in tall (1.93m) and weighing in at a sturdy 13st (83kg), Gordon has been a figure of stability at the back for the Hearts team for a considerable time. Additionally, he has held the honour of representing the Scottish national team.
According to the popular football database Transfermarkt (Source), his current market value is estimated to be around £42k.
Gordon's journey in professional football began with Hearts as a trainee back in October 1999. Despite only making one league match appearance during the 2002 - 2003 season, Gordon's performances improved as he made more and more appearances, finally culminating in a consistent show of match presence from 2003 onwards.
During the 2001 - 2002 season, he was loaned out to Cowdenbeath, where Gordon was able to taste more match time, boasting 12 appearances during his loan spell. Following his successful stint, he then returned to Hearts where he continued to grow his reputation as a dependable shot-stopper.
Following his successful spell with Hearts, in August 2007, Gordon was signed by English Premier League club Sunderland for a hefty sum of £9m. Over the course of his career at Sunderland, Gordon registered a respectable number of appearances each season.
In July 2014, Gordon was signed by Glasgow giants Celtic. Given Celtic's status as a dominant Scottish football power, his contributions were sought after and highly respected. Gordon managed to earn regular match game time with the Hoops, making 35 appearances in both 2015 - 2016 and 2016 - 2017 seasons. His game time somewhat fluctuated in the following seasons, but he still remained a key figure in the squad.
However, in July 2020, Gordon was brought back to Hearts, the club where it all started for him. As of the current season, Gordon continues his goalkeeping duties, having already made two appearances despite it being early in the season.
In addition to his club pursuits, Gordon also represented Scotland in the World Cup Qualifiers Europe 2024 - 2026 with two starts, and in the Nations League 2024 - 2025 with six starts. A career very well spent in between the sticks indeed for Craig Gordon.
