So, let me tell you about Craig Halkett. This boy was born on 29 May 1995 and has managed to reach the ripe age of 30. He sprung from the fertile soil of Scotland itself and now finds himself stationed in the battle lines as a central defender for that fine establishment we know as Hearts. The lad stretches up to 6 foot (1.83m) and carries a hefty 13st 9lb (87kg) of pure Scottish brawn on his frame. For those interested in the fancy digits on the backs of shirts, you'll find the number 4 scrawled on Halkett's.
As with anything worth having, there's a price attached to Halkett. A questionable valuation in my humble opinion, but valued he has been nonetheless. Our sources over at Transfermarkt reckon he's worth around £257k. A pint and some spare change in today's market!
Before he was prancing about in the Hearts tartan, our Halkett was signed up by Rangers (back in the seemingly prehistoric times of July 2012) when they were still part of the Premiership. He wasn't there long, after all, you'd get itchy feet too when you're a spry young lad of 17. By September 2014, Halkett was shipped off on loan to Clyde in League Two. Here, he made ten first-team league appearances, not exactly setting the world alight.
Then in October 2015, we find him gallivanting off again, this time to Berwick Rangers, loaned out yet again. Might have got a nosebleed with all the transfers, our Craig. At Berwick in the Lowland League, he got in four more first-team appearances under his belt. Must have been loving it, right?
Then, on the eve of January 2016, Halkett crawls his way to Livingston, smack dab back in the Premiership. And boy, did Craig have a few seasons there. Over the span of 2015 to 2019, the lad made a whopping 102 first team appearances, leaving memorabilia in the form of a respectable 15 goals. Not too shabby, Craig!
Then in July 2019, it's bye-bye Livingston, hello Hearts, where Halkett now dwells. From 2019 to current season 2025 - 2026, it seems like our Halkett's been working hard. 120 first team appearances and eight goals scored. Not quite Lionel Messi's figures, but who's keeping score?
