Born on 21 September 1962, in Poland, Dariusz Wdowczyk is a former football defender, standing at 5 ft 10 inches (1.8m) and weighing 11st 11lb (75kg). Wdowczyk kicked off his career in meticulous style before joining Celtic in the Scottish Premiership in November 1989.
Dariusz Wdowczyk's time at Celtic was marked by an exceptional level of consistency and single-minded concentration on the game. His debut season in 1989-1990 at Celtic saw the Polish player make 23 first team appearances, where he enthused the fans by scoring one goal in league matches. In the following season, his tenacity and persistent focus on the football pitch translated into the form of 24 first team appearances.
During the 1991-1992 season at Celtic, even amidst turmoil and changes, Wdowczyk carved out his niche by making 19 first team appearances. His continued hard work saw a peak in the 1992-1993 season, wherein he made 25 first team appearances and impressed the Celtic support by scoring an admirable tally of three goals in the league encounters.
In what turned out to be his final year at Celtic, the 1993-1994 season, Wdowczyk unfailingly took to the field 25 times in league matches. This highlighted his standing as a player who Celtic could bank on, amidst an ever-changing landscape of football.
Subsequently, in July 1994, Wdowczyk headed south of the border and immersed himself in English football by joining Reading in League One. His consistent performance carried over as he made 38 first team appearances in the 1994-1995 season. His involvement was slightly reduced in the 1995-1996 season, as he made 30 first team appearances in league matches. Nevertheless, this did not waive his commitment to the game. However, continuous wear and tear led to a reduction in his appearances from the 1996-1997 season onwards, as seen in his eight appearances in that season followed by six appearances in the 1997-1998 season. His time at Reading came to an end in the 1998-1999 season, during which he made no first team appearances.
