Derek Riordan was born in Scotland on 16 January 1983. He is a football player who is mainly a forward, playing as a striker. He is 5ft 10in (1.8m) tall and weighs 10st 3lb (65kg).
He began his professional career as a trainee at Hibernian in Scotland's Premiership in May 1999. Over several seasons at Hibernian, he made numerous first team appearances and scored a significant number of goals. During the 2002-2003 season, he made appearances for Cowdenbeath in Scotland's Lowland League while on loan. By the end of his tenure at Hibernian in 2011, he had made over 180 first team appearances and scored over 70 goals.
In June 2006, Riordan transferred from Hibernian to Celtic for around £150k. He made 16 first team appearances and scored four goals in league matches for Celtic in the 2006-2007 season. The following season, he scored one goal in his eight first team appearances. After his stint at Celtic, he returned to Hibernian in September 2008 for an undisclosed fee.
Riordan explored overseas opportunities, transferring in July 2011 from Hibernian to Beijing Renhe in China's League One. His journey then led him back to Scotland in March 2012 as he transferred from Beijing Renhe to St Johnstone. His tenure at St Johnstone was brief with only four first-team appearances. He then moved to Bristol Rovers in England's League One in September 2012, where he made 11 first team appearances.
Between 2014 and 2017, he played for various clubs in Scotland and England, including Alloa Athletic, Brechin City, East Fife, York City and Edinburgh City. He made several first team appearances and scored a modest number of goals during his time at these clubs.
From a trainee at Hibernian to globetrotting across England and China, Riordan has left an undeniable footprint in the football scene. His career is a testament to his resilience and love for the sport.
