Born on 4th October 1991, Dane Erik Sviatchenko is a footballer known for his defensive skills on the pitch. At present, he is signed to the Houston Dynamo where he primarily functions as a central defender. Standing tall at 6ft (1.84m), and weighing in at 12st 12lb (82kg), Sviatchenko pulls on the number 28 jersey. His market value is pegged around £700k, seemingly a fair figure accorded by Transfermarkt, his contract is set to run till 31st December 2026.
His journey in the world of professional football commenced back in July 2006, when he joined FC Midtjylland in Denmark as a trainee. His time there was marked by consistent appearances, with the 2012 - 2013 season seeing Sviatchenko make 28 on-field appearances with two successful goal attempts.
January 2016 saw him make a move to Celtic in the Premiership in Scotland, his transfer being secured for a round figure of £1.5m. Sviatchenko spent two fruitful seasons at Celtic; during the 2016 - 2017 season in particular, he made 28 appearances and managed to notch up a goal to his name.
Come January 2018, he returned to his former club FC Midtjylland on a loan deal. His reintegration was quick and efficient; he was a familiar presence on the field and his performance often punctuated with successful goal attempts.
His stint at Celtic concluded with the finalisation of his transfer from Celtic to FC Midtjylland for £1m in July 2018. Once more, he proved his worth at his old grounds, being a constant fixture on the field with regular appearances and goals.
A significant shift in the course of his career occurred in March 2023, when Sviatchenko was transferred to Houston Dynamo in the USA for about £1.3m. His appearances in the subsequent seasons were marked by a steady presence on the field, bringing in results for his team. Despite not playing in the 2014 season at Houston Dynamo, Sviatchenko has remained a valued member of the team. Looking ahead, the 2025 season is set to see him back on the field for Houston Dynamo.
Mention must also be made of his participation in the MLS Cup Play Offs 2024 and MLS 2025 for Houston Dynamo. Sviatchenko started twice in the former, and did six starts and two substitute appearances, inevitably strengthening his standing within the team.
