Gerry Creaney, born on 13 April 1970 in Scotland, is a retired Centre Forward. Standing at 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall and weighing 10st 9lb (68kg), the Scotsman's dynamic presence on the pitch was undeniable.
Creaney first joined Celtic in the Scottish Premiership in May 1987. His debut season and the following year saw him largely absent from first team league matches. The 1989-1990 season marked his break, bagging a single goal in six appearances. The years that followed saw a steady rise in form; he featured in 31 games and scored 7 goals in the 1990 - 1991 season. The subsequent season saw an impressive increase in his proficiency in front of goal, scoring 14 goals in 32 appearances. Creaney's 1992-1993 season ended with 9 goals across 26 games. His final season at Celtic in 1993 - 1994 showed a slight dip in form, as he managed 5 goals in 18 appearances.
In July 1993, Creaney packed his bags and moved to Portsmouth in the Championship in England. He had a notable stint here, scoring 11 goals in 18 games in his first season. The 1994 - 1995 season saw him play 39 matches, contributing 18 goals. Creaney's final season for Portsmouth in 1995 - 1996 saw him netting 3 goals in as many appearances.
Next up was Manchester City in the Premier League in July 1995. His tenure at City was not as prolific, scoring three goals in 15 appearances in the 1995 - 1996 season. The next season brought limited opportunities for Creaney, resulting in a single goal across five appearances. His 1997 - 1998 season led to minimal game time, with only one appearance to his name.
Closing in on the turn of the century, December 1998 saw Creaney join St Mirren back in the Scottish Premiership. He completed 12 matches and netted three goals throughout the '98-'99 season. This was quickly followed with a move to Notts County in England's League Two in February 1999, where he mirrored his St Mirren record, scoring three goals across 16 games.
As the millennium kicked off, Creaney joined Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship in August 2000. His limited time here saw one goal in six games. He later moved to Clydebank in November that same year, where he represented the defunct team in three league matches.
