Gianluca Mancini, born on 17 April 1996 (age 30), is an Italian central defender for Roma. An imposing 6ft 3in (1.90m), he wears squad number 23 and has a current market value of around £13m, according to Transfermarkt.
His most productive league season came at Atalanta in 2018-19, when he scored five goals in 30 appearances. That was the spell that pushed him on, but Roma has been the substance of his career rather than a stopping point.
Across seven seasons with Roma, Mancini has made 242 league appearances and scored 16 league goals. In 2025-26 he is still a regular part of the side, with 36 Serie A appearances and four goals, plus nine Europa League appearances and one goal. Across all competitions for Roma this season, he has played 45 times and scored five goals.
He has also remained involved with Italy, making six European World Cup qualifying appearances this season and scoring twice. Mancini’s career is now firmly centred on Roma: a long-serving Serie A defender, still in the team, still relevant, and still contributing at both ends of the pitch.
