Gonçalo Inácio, born on 25 August 2001 (age 25), is a Portugal international centre-half whose senior career has been built almost entirely at Sporting CP. A central defender by trade, he has become a regular part of their back line rather than a footballer with a scattered CV.
Across seven seasons with Sporting, Inácio has made 174 league appearances and scored 12 league goals. His best scoring return came in 2021-22, when he got four in 28 league appearances – useful enough from a defender, without confusing the issue.
His current market value is around £38.5m, according to Transfermarkt. In 2026-27, he has made five appearances for Sporting in all competitions, including four in Liga Portugal and one in the Champions League.
Inácio has also been involved with Portugal this season, making three appearances in European World Cup qualifying. His career to this point is straightforward: a Portuguese international defender with a substantial Sporting CP record and a profile shaped firmly by that club.
