Born on 6 July 1992 in Scotland, Grieg Spence is a 32-year-old striker currently applying his trade at East Stirlingshire in the Scottish Lowland League. Standing at 5ft 10in (1.78m) and weighing 11st (70kg), Spence's career has seen him traverse the length and breadth of Scottish football, from League One to the Premiership.
He initially joined Alloa Athletic in the League One in July 2008. Over the course of his time at Alloa Athletic, Spence demonstrated a steady growth in performance, playing in differing number of games across various seasons and contributing to the team's offensive efforts with goal tallies that saw gradual increments.
His performances were impressive enough to draw the attention of Celtic, the reigning titans of the Premiership, who secured his services for an undisclosed fee in August 2009. During his tenure with Celtic, his career took a detour when he was loaned out to Hamilton Academical in the Championship in August 2011. This move was beneficial for the striker as he made 29 first team appearances and scored five goals. These performances, while promising, did not secure him a regular place in Celtic's senior squad and subsequently, he found himself transferring to Raith Rovers in July 2012. At Raith Rovers, Spence participated actively, producing noteworthy performances across three separate seasons.
In June 2014, Spence was on the move again, returning to his former club, Alloa Athletic. A series of other transfer deals followed, with stints at Cowdenbeath, back to Alloa Athletic, Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic once again in a intricate dance of player transfers.
Spence joined Arbroath in the League One in Scotland for an undisclosed fee in January 2019 but his stay with Arbroath was short-lived. By January 2020, Spence moved on to Stenhousemuir in the League One. A loan spell at East Fife followed in March 2021 before he returned to Stenhousemuir in June. However, his return was brief, as the forward transferred out of Stenhousemuir in the same month. The destination is however left undisclosed.
By January 2023, Spence had joined Stirling Albion in the League Two, Scotland. His time at Stirling Albion saw him make seven first team appearances and score two goals. Once again, Spence moved on, transferring to East Stirlingshire in the Lowland League in July 2024 for an undisclosed fee. In the current 2024-2025 season, Spence has not yet made an appearance for East Stirlingshire.
In conclusion, Spence's football career has been one of constant movement, a continuous journey through Scotland's club football landscape. Persistent and steadfast, Spence's journey continues at East Stirlingshire.
