Harald Brattbakk, born on 1 February 1971 in Norway, is a former professional footballer who played primarily as a striker. Standing at 5ft 11in (1.82m) tall and weighing in at 11st 6lb (73kg), he displayed great prowess on the field.
Brattbakk's professional journey in football began in February 1990 when he joined Rosenborg in the Eliteserien. His debut season saw three first-team appearances and one scored goal. He demonstrated his skill and dedication in the ensuing years, netting numerous goals in each of his seasons with Rosenborg.
In February 1993, he embarked on a loan spell to Bodo Glimt in the Eliteserien in Norway. Brattbakk made 22 first team appearances, scoring nine goals in his first season with Bodo Glimt.
His career took an exciting turn in December 1997, when he transferred from Rosenborg in Norway to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership for an approximate fee of £2.2m. He made 18 first team appearances and scored seven goals in his inaugural season with Celtic (1997 - 1998). His second season (1998 - 1999) saw Brattbakk make 25 first team appearances, scoring five goals. In his third and final season (1999 - 2000), he made two first team appearances.
After his time with Celtic, Brattbakk moved to FC Copenhagen in the Superliga in Denmark in January 2000, for a transfer fee of around £650k. Here he made 31 first team appearances and scored 14 goals in league matches during his stint.
In January 2001, Brattbakk transferred back to Rosenborg from FC Copenhagen for a fee of around £500k. His return to Rosenborg was marked by significant contribution and he consistently found the back of the net in each of his years with the club.
Brattbakk returned to Bodo Glimt for a loan spell in August 2005, making 11 first team appearances and scoring five goals in league matches. In January 2006, after completion of his loan, he returned to Rosenborg where he maintained a consistent performance, marking his last few seasons in professional football.
By March 2006, he transferred out from Rosenborg. Brattbakk's illustrious career journey in football will always be remembered for his contribution to each team he played for, especially Celtic and Rosenborg.
