Hatem Abd Elhamed was born in Kafr Manda on 18 March 1991 (age 35), and developed into a primarily right-sided defender in Israeli football. His career has moved around a little, but FC Ashdod is the spell that gives it its shape: 105 league appearances across five seasons, with one league goal, is not a footnote.
Ashdod gave him the base of his senior career, while his time at Dinamo Bucureşti in 2014-15 added a different strand to his development. That was his most productive league season in front of goal, with three goals in 13 appearances, modest enough as a headline but useful context for a defender whose game was never built around scoring.
Celtic signed Abd Elhamed from Hapoel Be'er Sheva in July 2019 for around £1.5m. He arrived as an experienced, adaptable defender rather than a project, and his time in Glasgow was brief but not incidental. Injuries and distance from home limited the spell, and in February 2021 he left Celtic for a return to Hapoel Be'er Sheva in a deal worth around £810,000.
He remains with Hapoel Be'er Sheva, wearing squad number 33, with his current market value listed at around £170,000 by Transfermarkt. His career is best read as one rooted in Israeli football, shaped most strongly by Ashdod, with Celtic forming a short but significant chapter in the middle.
