Ian Wright, born on the 3rd of November 1963 in England, was an accomplished forward in his era, mostly playing in the Centre Forward position. Standing at 5ft 8in (1.75m) and weighing 11st 6lb (73kg), Wright began his professional career in July 1985 at Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. From 1985 - 1986, Wright made 32 first team appearances and scored nine goals; from 1986 - 1987, 38 first team appearances netting eight goals; during 1987 - 1988 he upped his game with 41 appearances and 20 goals, and by 1988 - 1989, had 42 appearances and 24 goals to his name. For the 1989 - 1990 season, he appeared 26 times and scored eight goals followed by the 1990 - 1991 season where he had 38 appearances with 15 goals, and finally in the 1991 - 1992 season, he made eight first team appearances, scoring five goals.
Come September 1991, Wright transferred to Arsenal for a fee of approximately £2.5 million. His prolific form continued there, where from 1991 to 1998, he made between 24 to 39 appearances per season, scoring between ten to 24 goals.
Following his successful stint at Arsenal, Wright transferred to West Ham United in July 1998 where he made 22 first team appearances and scored nine goals in the 1998 - 1999 season.
After a brief loan spell at Nottingham Forest where he scored five goals in ten appearances, Wright joined Celtic in the Scottish Premiership in October 1999. Despite only appearing eight times throughout the 1999 - 2000 season and scoring three goals in league matches, his time in Glasgow was memorable.
Departing from Celtic in February 2000, Wright went on to join Burnley in the English Championship where he made 15 first team appearances and netted four goals. Thus, marking the end of an illustrious career that saw him go from strength to strength in every team he represented.
