Jack Hendry, born on the 7th of May 1995, hails from the rugged terrains of Scotland. Weighing a solid 88kg (or 13st 12lb for the traditionalists amongst our readership), Hendry is a formidable presence on the field - a characteristic no doubt aided by his towering stature of 1.94m (or 6ft 4in). Commencing his professional career as a defender, Hendry now primarily operates as a central defender for Al-Ettifaq. He also represents the Scotland national team.
Hendry began his career in Scottish football with Partick Thistle in the Championship around mid-2014, where he managed to make a humble total of four appearances over two seasons. His efforts and potential did not go unnoticed, leading to a transfer to Wigan Athletic for a fee of around £250k in September 2015. Still in the early stages of his career, Hendry experienced the English leagues with spells at Shrewsbury Town on loan and MK Dons, racking up a total of 13 match appearances across both stints.
In the latter part of 2017, Hendry returned north to Dundee, showcasing his skill set in 24 league matches and landing his first goal. This form attracted the attention of Scotland's finest, Celtic, who splashed out approximately £1.5 million to secure his services at the dawn of 2018.
During his spell at the hoop-laden club, Hendry contributed 15 times over two seasons to the Celtic cause. The club's fan expectations at Celtic are notably demanding, and every player must rise to the pinnacles of their potential. Unfortunately, despite his concrete contributions, Hendry did not secure a regular spot in the Celtic starting eleven and decided to move on.
Whilst always casting a longing eye back at his time in Celtic, Hendry had brief stints with Melbourne City, Oostende (twice), Club Brugge and Cremonese ranging from appearances as a poster boy to loan mediocrity, collecting a respectable tally of league appearances and goals along the way. However, the tides of his career finally swept him towards the shores of Al-Ettifaq in 2023 for a solid fee of around £5.9m, where he continues his football journey today.
Over the years, Hendry has also showcased his talents internationally, taking part in the Euro 2024 and World Cup Qualifiers Europe 2024 - 2026 for Scotland. Donning the revered blue Scotland jersey is an honour, and to do so in nine-start games is something Jack Hendry must certainly be proud of.
